Tusculum named IWLCA Academic Honor Squad for fourth straight year

GRAND LAKE, Colo. --- Six Tusculum University student-athletes have been named to the 2018 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Division II Academic Honor Roll. 

Representing the Pioneers on this year's honor roll are Christen Craig, Savannah Elliott, Shelby Gray, Erin Sims, Jordan Smith and Brooke Wagner.

To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or greater.

The IWLCA honored 248 student-athletes from 65 different institutions on this year's academic honor roll.  Five South Atlantic Conference teams had representatives including Tusculum, Lincoln Memorial, Mars Hill, Queens and Wingate.

Tusculum was also recognized as an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad which recognizes those programs who have a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher.  The Pioneers posted a 3.429 GPA and earns this honor for a fourth consecutive year.  Four SAC programs earned IWLCA Academic Honor Squad distinction including Tusculum, Lincoln Memorial, Queens and Wingate.

Tusculum six honorees include five which graduated this past spring including Christen Craig (Birmingham, Ala., 3.71 GPA, graphic design/computer science/business), Savannah Elliott (Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, 3.83 GPA, pre-medicine/psychology), Shelby Gray (Belews Creek, N.C., 3.73 GPA, sports science/coaching), Erin Sims (Trussville, Ala., 3.65, biology/pre-medicine) and Brooke Wagner (Snellville, Ga., 3.56 GPA, psychology/business/religion).  The lone junior representing TU on the honor squad is Jordan Smith (Ball Ground, Ga., 3.98 GPA, education).

Tusculum University, located in Greeneville, Tennessee, is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference.
