GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum College scored the first seven goals of the match and went on to defeat Brevard College 17-7 in South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon at a rainy Pioneer Field.

The Pioneers (3-2, 1-0 SAC) received four goals and three assists from Hayley Bartlett and four goals from Savannah Elliott, who became the fourth player in program history to reach 100 career points. Sierra Haas had three goals and Madison Malone three assists for the Pioneers, who led 13-3 at the half and by as many as 14 goals in the second half.

Nina Siu had two goals and two assists, Kelly Kearnan had two goals and an assist and Victoria Hayes had two goals for the Tornados (0-3, 0-1 SAC), who were outshot 38-12 by the Pioneers and committed 28 turnovers in the contest.

Elliott's first goal with 5:09 gone in the first half made her the fourth to reach 100 career points with the Pioneers, joining Malone (143), Kelsey Crow (120) and Cheyenne Bray (107). Elliott scored all four of her goals in the first half, while Bartlett had four goals and two assists in the opening 30 minutes to help the Pioneers to the 10-goal halftime lead.

Tusculum scored twice in the first two minutes on goals from Bartlett and Calyn Kelly, and added goals from Bailey Lowery, Elliott and Haas to go up 5-0 with 21:07 left in the half. The Pioneer lead expanded to 7-0 on goals from Bartlett and Elliott before Kearnan broke the ice for the Tornados with 15:37 left in the half.

Following a goal from Hayes that cut the Tusculum lead to 7-2, the Pioneers scored six of the final seven goals of the opening half. Elliott and Bartlett each scored twice, while Haas and Lowery netted goals in the final 30 seconds. Lowery's goal came just before time expired in the half and sent Tusculum to the break with a 13-3 lead.

The Pioneers scored three goals in the first five minutes of the second half, off the sticks of Rachel Holmes, Emily Gleason and Haas, to go up 16-3 with 25:23 left. Brevard scored four of the match's last five goals, including a pair from Siu, while Tusculum's last goal came from Claire Stanton with 10:54 remaining.

In addition to her seven-point performance on offense, Bartlett had a team-high five ground balls along with a pair of caused turnovers. Kelly and Malone each had five draw controls and three ground balls for the Pioneers, while Juliette Cusano had three draw controls and three ground balls in the contest.

For Brevard, Jezika Gunter and Micaiah Vacchiano each had four draw controls, while Vacchiano had a team-best four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Brittany Fisk had a goal and an assist for the Tornados, who scored on seven of their nine shots on goal.

Tusculum finished the match with a 16-9 edge in draw controls and a 28-18 advantage in ground balls over Brevard. The Pioneers were 12-for-18 on clears, while the Tornados were successful on just 12 of 21 clearing opportunities.

Brooke Wagner started in goal for Tusculum and made two saves in 13 scoreless minutes of action, before yielding to Kaele Lawless who played the final 47 minutes. Shelby Arsenault played all 60 minutes in goal for the Tornados and had 10 saves.

Tusculum will play its next five matches on the road, starting Monday, March 6 at the University of Tampa as part of a three-game road swing through Florida.
