Rachel Ingram was named to the Tusculum University golf coaching staff in May 2019 and will serve as an assistant coach with TU head coach Ross Cash.

Ingram, a native Johnson City, Tennessee, also serves as the Director of Member Engagement at the Blackthorn Club in Jonesborough.

Prior to returning to East Tennessee, Ingram served as the head women’s golf coach at NCAA Division I Samford University from 2013-2017.  She led Samford to a pair of third place finishes at the Southern Conference Championship, its best showings in program history since joining the league in 2008.  While at Samford, she also was the interim head coach for the men’s golf program in the spring of 2014.

The Bulldogs achieved several milestones during Coach Ingram’s tenure at the Birmingham, Alabama school as Samford shot a school-record team score of 281 on two occasions.  Her teams accounted for two tournament victories as well as 17 top-five finishes along with two individual medals.

Her Samford teams also excelled in the classroom where they raised its team grade point average from 3.2 in 2013 to 3.58 in 2017 and was nominated for Samford University Athletics Coach of the Year in 2014.

In addition to her roles in coaching during her stay in Alabama, she played a vital role at Shoal Creek Club in member satisfaction, golf operations, golf swing instruction, and merchandising.

Ingram began her coaching career in 2010 at East Tennessee State University as the volunteer assistant coach. She continued as the assistant coach from 2011-2013 before taking the reins at Samford in the fall of 2013.

During her first year at ETSU, Ingram took a more active role in the Buccaneers’ on-course coaching as she helped fill in for decorated head coach Stefanie Shelton while she was on maternity leave. Even as a volunteer assistant coach, Ingram showed the acumen, dedication, and drive to help guide the ETSU program during the 2010-11 season.

In 2013, Ingram played a pivotal role in leading ETSU to the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship title. For the second time in program history, ETSU captured the conference championship in 2013 thanks to a tournament total of 880, holding off defending champion Kennesaw State University.

Individually, the Buccaneers placed three players in the top-seven on the leaderboard, led by a runner-up effort by Sian Evans and a third-place showing by Gabrielle Wahl. Evans finished at two-under-par for the tournament, while Wahl ended the event at one-under. Meanwhile, true freshman Vivienne Chin finished seventh and was one-over-par for the championship.

Under Ingram’s watchful eye, Evans and Wahl both earned All-Tournament honors, and with the victory ETSU made its third trip to the NCAA Championships in six seasons – with two automatic bids (2008 and 2013) and one at-large bid (2010).

As a graduate of the University of Mississippi in May of 2010, Ingram received four varsity letters as a member of the women's golf team. Ingram's college career low was 71 at the Derby Intercollegiate (Auburn University) in 2008. This personal best in the final round helped the Lady Rebels to their third straight, top-five finish. Her best individual finish was a 228 to place 14th at the Chrysler ACC/ SEC Challenge (Florida State University) in 2005.

In addition to collegiate golf, Ingram competed at a high level earning top-25 finishes in summer amateur tournaments which includes the following:  2006 Women's Southern Amateur; 2006 Women's Western Amateur; 2009 Golf Capital of Tennessee Women's Open; 2010 Tennessee State Amateur.

Upon graduation from college, Ingram competed on professional mini tours for the 2010-11 season, as well.

Ingram earned a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration in marketing communications at Ole Miss in 2010 with a focus in public relations. Upon completion of her four year eligibility, she had two internships during Rebel Sports Marketing and Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in the Public Relations Department.
