TU women in second place at Buccaneer Spring Classic

MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University women's golf team is in second place following the conclusion of Monday play at the 2002 Buccaneer Spring Classic, hosted by Christian Brothers University. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the par 72, 5,862-yard Irene Golf and Country Club.

The Pioneers posted a team score of 323 in Monday's first 18 holes and are currently on pace to better that score as TU is +23 with two holes to play in the second round before it was suspended due to darkness. The second round will be completed Tuesday morning beginning at 8:30 p.m. (CT) with the final round following.

Host Christian Brothers currently leads Tusculum by eight shots as the Bucs opened with a 319 and have increased their lead at +50 including +19 so far in their second round with two holes to play in the second round.

Rhodes College is third at +72, followed by Union University (+79), Drury (+80), Shorter (+98) and Spring Hill (+99).

Individually, Tusculum's Hannah Brown is in a three-way tie for second place at +11 for the tournament and is three strokes behind day one leader Nuria Llobet of Christian Brothers who is at +8 for the event.

Brown opened the day with a 78 and was one-shot behind co-leaders Llobet and CBU teammate Annie Lee. Brown started her second round sluggish as she was +4 after six holes. But she is one-over par for her last 10 holes with two remaining to complete her second round.

TU senior Olivia Cunningham is tied for eighth place at +15 including her first round score of 81. She +8 after 10 holes of play in her second 18, but she made a turnaround shooting -2 for her last seven holes and has one hole remaining to complete her 36-hole tally.

Nilubol Panno and Braelyn Peppin are tied for 10th place at +16, while Sofie Lorentzen is currently +25 and is tied for 26th place.
