BRISTOL, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University women's golf team fired a Tuesday-best 318 as a final round rally fell short as the Pioneers finished third at the 2019 King University Invitational. The two-day, 36-hole tournament was held at the par-71 Country Club of Bristol.
Tusculum, who was tied for sixth place and 21 shots out of first when the final round began, shaved 19 strokes off its first day score of 337 as TU leap-frogged three other teams to finish third.
Tusculum senior Jennifer Keim led the final day charge as she carded a 74 to card a two-day score of 150 to finish runner-up and one shot out of first for a second straight week. She also finished second at last week's season-opening Mars Hill Invitational. Erskine's Anna Parramore claimed medalist honors with 77-72=149.
Southern Wesleyan won the team title as the Warriors finished with 648, three shots better than runner-up North Greenville University (651). Tusculum was third, followed by Erskine (657), host King (661), Emmanuel (662) and Converse (667).
TU's Yen Xuan Ong tied for 11th place with back-to-back rounds of 83-83=166, while Taylor Gransen finished tied for 20th with 87-82=169. Bianca Findlay knocked 14 shots off her first round score with Tuesday's 79 to shoot 172 and finish 27th. Mackenzie Butler finished 35th with 91-97=188.
The Pioneers are back in action next week as they compete at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate at the Ocean Ridge Plantation in Sunset Beach, North Carolina.
