GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University women's golf team shot a final round 306 to shoot a two-day score of 618 and force a playoff, but lost on the first playoff hole to Catawba College at the 22nd annual Agnes McAmis Memorial. The two-day, 36-hole tournament was hosted by Tusculum and held at the par-71, 5,930-yard Link Hills Country Club.
Catawba posted a four-person team aggregate score of 19 with two pars, one bogey and a double bogey on the playoff hole while the Pioneers had 21 as TU counted one par, one bogey and two double bogeys in the first team playoff in the 22-year history of the McAmis Memorial.
Catawba shot back-to-back rounds of 309 to finish with 618 as the Indians win their first-ever McAmis Memorial crown.
King University's Roxane Nataf led wire-to-wire to claim individual medalist accolades as she finished with 71-73=144 to win by four strokes over runner-up Kaley Barts of Catawba (73-73=146). Catawba teammate Sarah Coltrane finished third with 73-74=147.
Tusculum senior Katie Tomassoni carded the low round of the day with her one-over par 72 as she finished the two-day event with 148 to place fourth. Missouri S&T's Lauren Allen rounded out the All-Tournament team as she finished with 75-75=150 to finish fifth.
Tusculum Orange had four players finish in the top-10 including Olivia Cunningham who finished eight with 78-75=153. Senior Cydney Murrell finished ninth with 79-77=156, while Mackenzie Butler tied for 10th place honors with 79-82=161. Julia Johansson rounded out the team scoring for Tusculum Orange as she finished with 81-83=164 to tie for 13th.
Tusculum Black's Taylor White also tied for 13th place as she posted a score of 83-81=164. Jacque Butler finished 24th with 88-84=172, while Lauryn Munn shot 86-88=174 to place 26th. Senior Trista Holder shot 91-85=176 to tie for 27th position, while Meredith Burton finished with a two-day score or 190 to finish 31st.
Tusculum will now turn its attention to the 2019 South Atlantic Conference Championship, which begins this Sunday in Hickory, North Carolina. This will be the Pioneers' 20th SAC Tournament as TU has won the league championship on two occasions (2000, 2001).
