SOUTHAVEN, Miss. --- Tusculum University's Katie Tomassoni carded her second straight round of 74 to win medalist honors at the 2019 Buccaneer Spring Classic on Tuesday.  Tomassoni's two-day score of 74-74=148 was good enough for a one shot win over runner-up Rian Moores of Murray State College.

The Pioneers finished third in the team competition with 635 including a final round 319.  Murray State rallied to win the team crown with 632, two shots better than runner Union University and three shots clear of Tusculum.  Freed-Hardeman placed fourth with 648, followed by host Christian Brothers (652), Arkansas-Monticello (671), Quincy (681), Purdue-Northwest (744) and Kentucky Wesleyan (809).

For Tomassoni, it is her second individual medal of the season and fourth of her career, which are the second most in program history.  She needs one more tournament victory to match the school record five wins tallied by Jillian Corum from 2009-2013.

TU teammate Olivia Cunningham earned a spot on the All-Tournament team, shooting 76-76=152 to tie for third place honors. For Cunningham, it is her third top-10 finish as a freshman.

Rookie Julia Johansson finished in 11th place with 79-78=155 for her fifth top-20 showing this season.  Mackenzie Butler placed 29th with 87-91=178 while Meredith Barton posted 107-98=205 to finish 42nd.

Tusculum will close out the regular season April 1-2 when they host the 22nd annual Agnes McAmis Memorial Tournament at Link Hills Country Club.  TU is the defending champion and is looking to win its home spring tournament for a seventh time.
