Tomassoni fourth, Pioneers seventh after day one of Low Country Invitational

BLUFFTON, S.C. --- Tusculum University senior Katie Tomassoni shot an opening round 75 and is tied for fourth place after the first round of the Low Country Invitational.  The two-day, 36-hole event is being held at the par-71, 5,843-yard Crescent Point Golf Club and hosted by Wingate University.

The Pioneers posted a team score of 323 and are tied for seventh place with NCAA Division I Western Michigan University as the day one leader after Monday's 308.

Tomassoni is just two strokes out of the lead currently held by Flagler's Miranda Greene and Lander's Hannah Stephenson who each carded a one-over par 73.  WMU's Jasmine Chee is third with 74, followed by Tomassoni, Madison Corley (UNC Pembroke), Warissa Puangcharoen (Wingate) and Abbey Hartsell (Lenoir-Rhyne) for fourth place with 75.

Western Michigan leads the team competition by one shot over second place UNC Pembroke (309).  Flagler is third with 314 while Lander is fourth with 318.  Wingate and Lenoir-Rhyne are tied for fifth place with 319, while Tusculum and Newberry are tied for seventh with 323.  Queens and Catawba are tied for ninth with 326, followed by Anderson (328), Wingate B (367) and Chowan (405) to round out the team scoring.

Tusculum freshman Olivia Cunningham is tied for 20^th place following her opening day 79.  Rookie Julia Johansson is 28^th with 81, senior Taylor White is 53^rd following her 88 and freshman Jacque Butler is 59^th with her 95.

The final round of the Low Country Invitational will be played on Tuesday.
