Pioneers release 2018-19 women's golf schedule

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University golf coach Ross Cash has announced the 2018-2019 women's golf schedule.  The Pioneers will play in nine regular-season tournaments culminating with the South Atlantic Conference Championship in the spring. (2018-19 Schedule)

Cash is coaching in his inaugural Tusculum campaign and has six letter-winners back from last year's team including three-time All-Conference honoree Katie Tomassoni and 2018 SAC All-Tournament selection Cydney Murrell.

The Pioneers will open the season Sep. 10-11 when they host the 13th annual Bob Dibble Classic.  Tusculum won the Classic last season for a third straight year and the fifth time overall.  Tomassoni will be looking to defend her individual title posting back-to-back rounds of 73 for a two-day score of 146 (+2).

Tusculum makes its inaugural trip to Broadmoor Golf Links and the Mars Hill Invitational on Sep. 24-25.  The Pioneers will get a preview of the layout which will host the SAC Championship in April.

TU will be at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate on Oct. 1-2 in Sunset Beach, North Carolina.  The Pioneers have played in each of the last 17 times this event has been held (cancelled in 2015) including last year when Tusculum finished runner-up in the 18-team event.  TU shot a tournament total 612 and finished one shot out of first. It was the lowest 36-hole score shot by a Tusculum team in its 17 trips to Myrtle Beach.

On Oct. 8-9, Tusculum will be at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational in Salisbury, North Carolina to wrap up the fall schedule.  The Pioneers will be making its 15th straight trip to Catawba College's fall event.  Tusculum finished fourth at last year's tournament after winning the Rendleman in 2016.  Murrell finished eighth thanks to a one-under par 71 in the final round.

Tusculum will be at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate on Feb. 11-12 in Fleming Island, Florida.  The Pioneers finished runner-up at last year's tournament firing a two-day score of 603 to finish ahead of several nationally-ranked teams.

TU will be at the Hilton Head Invitational on Feb. 25-26 in the program's inaugural visit to Palmetto Dunes.

Tusculum will also be making its inaugural visit to Bluffton, South Carolina for the Low Country Invitational hosted by Wingate University on Mar. 4-5.  The two-day event is being conducted at Crescent Pointe Golf Club.

On Mar. 11-12, the Pioneers will be at the Buccaneer Spring Classic in Germantown, Tennessee and hosted by Christian Brothers University.  Tusculum makes its second straight trip to the Germantown Country Club as TU finished fifth at last year's CBU Super Regional Preview.

Tusculum hosts the 22nd annual Agnes McAmis Memorial to open the month of April (Apr. 1-2).    The Pioneers captured its seventh McAmis Memorial title last spring in monumental fashion.  TU overcame a 19-stroke deficit to shoot a 54-hole total 936, including a final round 296 to win by 11 shots for the largest come-from-behind win in program history.

The South Atlantic Conference Championship will be held Apr. 7-9 at Broadmoor Golf Links in Fletcher, North Carolina and hosted by Mars Hill University.  The winner of this year's championship will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament in May.  Tusculum has claimed the SAC Championship on two occasions (2000, 2001) and has accounted for a pair of runner-up finishes in 2013 and 2017.

The NCAA II Super Regional will be held at the Cleveland Country Club in Cleveland, Tennessee and hosted by Lee University (May 6-8).  The NCAA National Championship will be held May 15-18 at the PGA National in Palm Beach, Florida.
