ELGIN, S.C. --- The Tusculum women's golf team shot a second round score of 331 and the Pioneers are tied for second place with a tournament total 647 at the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Championship.

The wind played a huge factor in Monday's scoring as only nine participants broke 80 in the 55-player field.  The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the par-72, 5,830-yard Members Club at Woodcreek.

Wingate fired the best round of the day with a team score of 316 as the 15th-ranked Bulldogs increased its lead to 19 shots over Tusculum and Anderson, who are locked in tie for second.  Queens is in fourth place with 651 including Monday's 326.  Coker posted the second-best score of the day with 324 to move up to fifth place with 654.  Lincoln Memorial is sixth with 657, followed by Carson-Newman (658), Lenoir-Rhyne (661), Newberry (673), Catawba (676) and Mars Hill (753).

Wingate's Warissa Puangcharoen and Cameryn Smith of Queens are tied with the 36-hole lead at 154 (+10).  Puangcharoen posted her second straight round of 77, which was the lowest round of the day.

Tusculum's Cydney Murrell finished with an 80 for her second round and is tied for third place with 155, just one shot behind the leaders.  Murrell, who shot 75 on Sunday, birdied the 17th hole and ended the round with nine pars, to go along with seven bogeys and a double-bogey 6 on No. 18.  Anderson's Kate Hill is also tied for third place with 76-79=155.

TC junior Katie Tomassoni was one of the nine competitors in the 70s on Monday with her 79 to give her a two-day total of 155, moving up one spot and is in sole possession of fifth place.  After shooting 42 on her outward nine, Tomassoni was two under par for her first seven holes with birdies on No. 10 and No. 14.  But a double-bogey on No. 17 and a bogey on the final hole left with a one-over par 37 on her inward nine.

Tusculum senior Ciara Rattana climbed eight spots on the leaderboard and is tied for 17th place following Monday's 80.  Rattana's 163 has her just three strokes out of the top-10.  She opened with a 40 on the front nine which included a birdie on the first hole. The birdied No. 11 and was one-under par on the first three holes of her final nine. But bogeys on five of her final six holes left her with a 40 on the back nine.

Pioneer junior Taylor White is tied for 41st place with 80-93=173 while rookie Mackenzie Butler is 52nd with 94-92=186.
