Pioneers fourth, Rattana & Tomassoni ninth at CBU/NCAA Regional Preview

MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- Tusculum's Ciara Rattana and Katie Tomassoni are tied for ninth place after day one action of the Christian Brothers University / Super Regional Preview at historic Germantown Country Club.  The Pioneers fired a 36-hole score of 641, including 316 in their second round Monday and are in fourth place in the field which consists of two of the top-four teams in the nation.                               

The two-day, 54-hole event is being hosted by Christian Brothers and held at the site of this May's NCAA Division II Super Regional.

Rattana and Tomassoni each posted totals of 155 on the day as the TC duo is in the top-10 of the tournament.  Rattana opened with a 79, but bounced back with three birdies, including back-to-back on her first two holes as she wrapped up her day with a 76.  Tomassoni shot a 78 in the first round and posted a 77 in her second round, including a birdie on her final hole of the day.

Nova Southeastern, the No. 2 ranked team in NCAA Division II, has a 25-shot lead after the opening day.  The Sharks posted rounds of 304 and 301 for a 13-over par 605.  Missouri-St. Louis, who is ranked fourth in the country, is in second place with 316-314=630.  South Atlantic Conference member Carson-Newman (No. 29 in NCAA II) is third with 319-314=633, while Tusculum is fourth with 325-316=641, followed by West Florida (322-323=645), West Alabama (318-333=651), Union University (328-327=655) and Christian Brothers (356-347=703).

West Florida's Paloma Vaccaro has the 36-hole lead following her 72-73=145 (+1).

Tusculum's Taylor White is tied for 19th place following her 81-80=161.  White was one-under par for her final six holes in Monday's first round. She tallied two birdies and shot even par for her last four holes.

Cydney Murrell shot 87-83=170 and is in sole possession of 30th place, while Mackenzie Butler tallied 92-86=178 to tie for 34th.

The final round will be held on Tuesday on the par-72, 5,898-yard layout.
