Tomassoni shoots 71 to take first day lead at Noble Memorial

DAHLONEGA, Ga. --- Tusculum junior Katie Tomassoni matched a career-low with her 71 and has the lead after day one action of the fourth annual LeeAnn Noble Memorial.  The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being held at the par-72, 5,934-yard Achasta Golf Club and hosted by the University of North Georgia.    

The Pioneers posted a team score of 315 and are in seventh place.  Lee University has the first day lead following its 296 tally, which is three shots clear of Young Harris and North Georgia who each fired 299.  Columbus State is fourth with 306, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne (308), Lincoln Memorial (313), Tusculum (315), Erskine (316), Newberry (317), Converse (320), Catawba (320), Montevallo (323), West Alabama (324), King (324), UNC Pembroke (326) and Southern Wesleyan (333).

Tomassoni ties the one-under 71 she carded at the 2016 Tusculum Fall Classic at Link Hills Country Club.  She has a one shot lead over Haverly Harrold of Lee University and Young Harris' Hannah Walker.  There are 10 golfers within three shots of Tomassoni and 15 within four shots overall.

Tusculum junior Cydney Murrell posted a 78 and is tied for 31st place.  Senior Ciara Rattana and junior Taylor White each carded an 83 and are tied for 57th place.  Freshman Meredith Barton shot 96 and is tied for 86th.

The final round will be held on Tuesday with Tusculum tee times starting at 9 a.m.
