Rattana, Pioneers are in fifth place at the Rendleman Invitational

SALISBURY, N.C. --- Tusculum senior Ciara Rattana carded a one-over par 73 and is tied for fifth place following the first round of the 2017 Patsy Rendleman Invitational.  The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being hosted by Catawba College and held at the par-72 Country Club of Salisbury.

The Pioneers posted a team score of 305 and is tied for fifth place and is 10 shots out of the lead held by Lenoir-Rhyne who shot 295 for the only sub-300 score of the day. 

Limestone is second with its score of 300 followed by Queens University of Charlotte (301) and Anderson (303).  Tusculum and North Georgia are tied for fifth with 305, followed by Young Harris (307), Carson-Newman (313), Catawba (314), Erskine 316), Belmont Abbey (319), King (320), Coker (321), North Greenville (322), Barton (329), Chowan (350) and Pfeiffer (365).

Rattana is three strokes behind first round leader Savannah Hallman of North Greenville, who posted a two-under par 70.  Megan Sabol of North Georgia is second with 71 (-1), while Abbey Hartsell (Lenoir-Rhyne) and Nicola Robertson are tied for third place honors with an even par 72.  Joining Rattana in the log jam at 73 are Elenonor Skoog (Limestone), Natalie Pleyerova (Queens), Makalyn Poole (Anderson) and Candler Kimsey (Young Harris).

Tusculum junior Katie Tomassoni is five shots out of first place with her 75 which has her tied for 15^th place overall.  TC junior Cydney Murrell is tied for 24^th after her opening day 76.  Junior Taylor White is 50^th with 81, while sophomore Maggienella Basile shot an 83 and is tied for 60^th.  TC rookie Mackenzie Butler shot 89 and is tied for 80^th, playing as an individual competitor.

The final round will be played on Tuesday as Tusculum is the defending champion of this event.
