Rattana, Tomassoni named to All-SAC Golf Team

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum's Ciara Rattana and Katie Tomassoni have been named to the 2017 All-South Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Team announced league officials Friday.

Rattana was named to the All-SAC first team for a third consecutive year, while Tomassoni earned second team recognition after garnering All-SAC honorable mention laurels last season.

Rattana, a junior from Western Springs, Illinois, becomes the fourth player to earn All-SAC honors three times in her career, but only second three-time first teamer, joining Rachel McFarland who achieved the feat from 2000-2003.

Rattana leads the team with her 76.70 scoring average, which is on pace to be the best in a Tusculum single-season (Emee Herbert, 76.71 in 2011-2012).  She has posted eight top-20 performances this season, including six times in the top-10 and five times in the top-five.  She has posted scores in the 70s in 16 of her 20 rounds this year.

Rattana finished runner-up at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational as well as the Flagler Fall Slam.  Rattana carded a career-best 70 (-2) at the Flagler Fall Slam which is tied for the third lowest 18-hole score in TC history.  Her 77.90 career stroke average is the second lowest in the 20-year history of the program.

Tomassoni, a sophomore from Naples, Florida, is second on the team with her 77.80 scoring average which is currently the fifth lowest in TC history.  Tomassoni has played in all 10 events this year where she has finished in the top-20 on seven occasions, with four top-10 performances, including three times in the top-five.

Tomassoni opened year second TC campaign by sinking a 30-foot birdie putt on the final hole to win the Etowah Intercollegiate.  She followed that with a runner-up performance at the Tusculum Fall Classic, where she posted 71-73=144 (E) for the second-lowest 36-hole total in program history.  She finished second at the Wingate Intercollegiate Challenge last month where she lost on the first playoff hole.

Tomassoni, has a career average of 79.04, which is third-best in the Tusculum record book.

The Pioneers will be hosting the 2017 SAC Championship starting Sunday at Link Hills Country Club. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be held Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with play beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day.  Tusculum is vying for its third SAC Championship and first since winning back-to-back titles in 1999 and again in 2000.
