MONROE, N.C. --- The Tusculum women's golf team shot 317 and have the first round lead at the 2017 Wingate Intercollegiate Challenge.  The two-day, 36-hole event is being hosted by Wingate University at the par-72, 5,922-yard Rolling Hills Country Club.

The Pioneers have a four-shot lead over Wingate (321) and are six shots clear of third-place Young Harris.

Tusculum sophomore Katie Tomassoni carded a three-over par 75 and leads the tournament by one shot over Abbey Hartsell of Lenoir-Rhyne and is two shots ahead of TC teammate Ciara Rattana and Meghan Holbrooks of Pfeiffer.

There is a three-way tie for fourth place in the team competition at 324, including Queens, Lenoir-Rhyne and King.  Coker is seventh with 328, followed by Lincoln Memorial (329) and Barton (346).

Tusculum senior Taylor Lambertsen is tied for 21^st place with 82, while sophomore Cydney Murrell shot an 83 and is tied for 31^st place.  Sophomore Taylor White is tied for 35^th with 84 to round out the TC team scoring. 

Tusculum senior Lindsay Butler, who is playing as an individual competitor, carded an 89 and is tied for 46^th place.  TC rookie Maggienella Basile is 49^th following her first day tally of 93.

The tournament will conclude with Tuesday's final round at Rolling Hills.
