KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. --- Tusculum sophomore Katie Tomassoni fired an opening round 81 and is tied for 25th place after day one of the 2017 Barton College Invitational at Kiawah. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being held at Oak Point Golf Club.
The Pioneers shot 337 as a team and are in 12th place in the 17-team field.
Limestone and Armstrong State each shot 315 and are tied for the lead. Anderson is third with 322, while Florida Southern and UNC Pembroke are deadlocked for fourth place at 323. Queens University of Charlotte is sixth with 325, followed by Converse (327), Wingate (329), Lenoir-Rhyne (330), Carson-Newman (330), Lincoln Memorial (334), Tusculum, Barton (343), Belmont Abbey (352), Catawba (357), Chowan (384) and Newberry (395).
Individually, Anderson's Makalyn Poole and Shannon McKew of Florida Southern are tied for first after posting 75.
The Tusculum duo of Ciara Rattana and Taylor Lambertsen each shot 85 and are tied for 46th place. Cydney Murrell is 51st after Saturday's 86, while Taylor White rounds out the TC scoring with 87 (T56th).
The final round will be played Sunday morning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
