Tusculum women's golf wins Rendleman Invitational for third title this fall

SALISBURY, N.C. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team fired a final round 308 to finish with a two-day score of 613 to win the 2016 Patsy Rendleman Invitational.  The Pioneers won by five shots over runner-up Wingate University (618) and eight shots ahead of Lenoir-Rhyne University and the University of North Georgia who tied for third with 621.

Tusculum captures its third team championship of the fall campaign to match the 1998-1999 squad for the most team titles in a single-season.

TC junior Ciara Rattana led the Pioneers by shooting 72-74=146 over the past two days to finish tied for runner-up honors with Hannah Walker of Young Harris College (73-73=146).  Lenoir-Rhyne's Abbey Hartsell blistered the Country Club of Salisbury layout as she finished with a three-under par 141, including Tuesday's four-under round of 68 to capture medalist honors.

Joining Hartsell, Rattana and Walker on the All-Tournament Team were North Georgia's Jordyn Sims (75-73=148) and Wingate's Christina Casanella (71-79=150).

Rattana continues her solid play to start the season as she records her fourth consecutive top-five finish in as many tournaments this fall for the Pioneers.

Tusculum sophomore Cydney Murrell finished tied for 11th place with 76-78=154, while sophomore Katie Tomassoni tied for 13th with 77-78=155.  Senior Taylor Lambertsen climbed nine spots up the leaderboard as she tied for 24th place with 81-78-159.  Sophomore Taylor White rounded out the TC team scoring with 80-84=164 to finish 46th.  TC sophomore Kelsey Haun, playing as an individual competitor, fired back-to-back rounds of 82-82 to finish with 164 (T46th).

Young Harris finished with fifth with 626, followed by Anderson University (627), Lincoln Memorial University (632), King University (634), Erskine College (637), Belmont Abbey College (640), Coker College (656), host Catawba College (666), Barton College (676) and North Greenville University (677).
