SALISBURY, N.C. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team shot an opening round score of 305 to take the first day lead at the 2016 Patsy Rendleman Invitational, which is being held at the Country Club of Salisbury.
The Pioneers have a one-shot lead over Wingate University (304) and are three strokes in front of third-place Lenoir-Rhyne University.
Tusculum junior Ciara Rattana paced the Pioneer charge with an even par round of 72 and is in sole possession of second place and is one shot off the lead held by Wingate's Cristina Casanella, who posted a one-under par 71.
Anderson University and Lincoln Memorial University are tied for fourth place with scores of 310, while the University of North Georgia is sixth with 312. Young Harris College is seventh with 315, followed by Belmont Abbey College (316), King University (325), Erskine College (326), Coker College (332), host Catawba College (342), Barton College (344) and North Greenville University (346).
Tusculum sophomore Cydney Murrell is tied for 10th place following her opening day 76, while sophomore teammate Katie Tomassoni is tied for 12th place with 77. Sophomore Taylor White is 28th with her first round 80, while senior Taylor Lambertsen rounds out the team scoring with 81 (T35). Sophomore Kelsey Haun, who is playing as an individual competitor, finished with an 82 and is tied for 41st place.
The final round of the 36-hole, 14-team tournament will be played on Tuesday.
