Rattana second, Pioneers sixth after day one of Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate

SUNSET BEACH, N.C. --- Tusculum College's Ciara Rattana fired a one-over par score of 73 and is in sole possession of second place after the first round of the 2016 Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being held at the par-72, 5,916-yard Lion's Paw Course of the Ocean Ridge Plantation. 

The Pioneers carded a team score of 314 and are tied for sixth place in the 17-team tournament field.  Tusculum is 15 shots behind first-round leader West Georgia, who posted a team-total of 299, which is nine shots better than UNC Pembroke and Lenoir-Rhyne, who are tied for second place with 308.

West Georgia's Maria Torres carded a two-under par score of 70 and holds a three-stroke advantage over Rattana.  Tusculum's Katie Tomassoni fired a round of 75 and is tied for fifth place.

In the team competition, Wingate and Anderson are tied for fourth place with 312, while Tusculum and Coker are tied for sixth with 314. Lincoln Memorial is eighth with 318, while Newberry is ninth with 324.  Barton is 10^th with 327, followed by Mount Olive (330), Belmont Abbey (331), Emmanuel (331), Virginia-Wise (351), Pfeiffer (352) and Sandhills Community College (370).

Tusculum's Cydney Murrell carded an 80 and is tied for 35^th place, Kelsey Haun is tied for 63^rd with her 86, while Taylor White rounds out the TC team scoring with 90 (T78).  Senior Taylor Lambertsen, playing as an individual competitor, shot 78 and is tied for 22^nd place. Also playing as an individual is TC's Blythe Scrivner, who is tied for 63^rd place following her opening score of 86.

The final round of the tournament will be played on Tuesday. The event is being co-hosted by Lincoln Memorial and Lenoir-Rhyne.
