MONROE, N.C. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team fired an opening round 332 and is tied for eighth place after day one of the 2016 South Atlantic Conference Championship. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the Monroe Country Club and hosted by Wingate University.

Lincoln Memorial University and Carson-Newman University share the first round lead after posting scores of 312. Queens University of Charlotte and Wingate are tied for third place at 320, while Newberry College is fifth with 325. Coker College is sixth with 330, Lenoir-Rhyne University is sixth with 331 and Tusculum and Anderson University each posted 332 are tied for the eighth. Mars Hill University (352) and Brevard College (359) round out the scoring for the first day of the league championship.

Tusculum junior Taylor Lambertsen carded an 81 and is tied for 19th place, while two-time All-SAC sophomore Ciara Rattana shot 83 and is tied for 26th. Senior Calley Lawson and All-SAC rookie Katie Tomassoni each posted 84 and are tied for 30th, while freshman Taylor White shot 87 and is tied for 47th place.

Carson-Newman's Taylor Hayes posted an even par 72 and is the first round leader and holds a two-stroke advantage over second place Lise Malherbe of Lincoln Memorial.

The second round will be played on Monday and will be played on the par-72, 5,981-yard layout.
