Pioneers host Tusculum Fall Classic next week at Link Hills

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College men and women's golf teams will host the Tusculum Fall Classic, this Monday and Tuesday at Link Hills Country Club.

The opening round begins Monday morning at 11 a.m. with the women's tournament beginning on the front nine at Link Hills and the men's tournament starting on hole No. 10. Tuesday's final rounds are slated to start at 9 a.m.

The Fall Classic is a unique collegiate event, celebrating its 10th year this season. The Classic is two tournaments held simultaneously.

The men's tournament will feature eight colleges and universities, including the Pioneers, who won this event the first four years of the Classic's history (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009).

The women's event will feature players from seven collegiate programs, including host Tusculum who has won this tournament twice (2006, 2012).

Participating in this year's men's field with Tusculum are fellow South Atlantic Conference members Catawba, Lenoir-Rhyne, Mars Hill and Lincoln Memorial, who is the four-time defending champion of the men's tournament. Also participating in the 2015 TC Classic are: Tennessee Wesleyan and 2014 NJCAA national champion Walters State.

Tusculum senior Brad Hawkins is the defending medalist after posting back-to-back rounds of 68-68=136 last year. LMU senior Connor Froning is also a past TC Classic medalist, winning the event in 2012.

Competing in this year's women's tournament are Tusculum, Brevard, Lenoir-Rhyne, Lincoln Memorial, Mars Hill, Milligan and Spartanburg Methodist.

Admission to the Tusculum Classic is free and open to the public.
