Tusculum goes 2-2 on Saturday to remain ninth at Stallings Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- The Tusculum University women's bowling team went 2-2 on Saturday and remains in ninth place after day two of the 2022 Stallings Invitational. The three-day, 15-team tournament is being held at the AMF All-Star Lanes and hosted by North Carolina A&T.

The Pioneers finished Saturday with a five traditional game total 4,194 pins to move their tournament total to 8,526.

In their bye game to open day two play, the Pioneers bowled a team score of 845. In the second round, TU square off against No .12 Fairleigh Dickinson as they defeated the Black & Orange 945-851. The Pioneers followed with an 856-849 win over Texas Southern and a 773-650 victory against fellow Conference Carolinas foe Belmont Abbey. TU closed out the traditional round against host and sixth-ranked North Carolina A&T as the Aggies came away with a 1,063-869 win.

Tusculum's Erin Burkart was the Pioneers top bowler in the individual standings as she bowled a five-game total of 902 which was 35th. Samantha England finished 36th with 900, while Allison Robbins was 37th with 898. Alexa Tieto placed 40th with 865, while Shayna Long rounded out the scoring for the Pioneers. (629 – 65th).

Vanderbilt continues to lead the team competition as the Commodores have a total pinfall of 10,411. North Carolina A&T is second with 10,224, followed by Delaware State (9780), Sam Houston State (9778), Mount St. Mary's (9761), Fairleigh Dickinson (9702), Lincoln Memorial (9690), Maryland Eastern Shore (9589), Tusculum (8526), Florida A&M (8469), Texas Southern (9391), Coppin State (8147), Norfolk State (8130), Howard (7732) and Belmont Abbey (7325).

North Carolina A&T's Ericka Quesada was the individual champion with a five-game total 1,133 pins, winning by 15 pins over runner-up Amanda Chrzanowski of Fairleigh Dickinson.

Tusculum is seeded ninth heading into Sunday's Best-of-7 Bracket play and will open against No. 10 seed Florida A&M. The winner will face the loser of the match-up between LMU and Maryland Eastern Shore as TU could finish as high as seventh in a tournament which features eight programs listed in the latest NTCA Top-25.

The Pioneers have gone 4-5 this weekend to move their seasonal record to 41-30 overall.
