Pioneers stay sixth in D2SIDA Southeast Region poll

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- The Tusculum University women's basketball team remains sixth in this week's D2SIDA Southeast Region poll, through games of Jan. 27.

The Pioneers (13-5) won two of their three games last week, including a 75-54 victory over then 25th-ranked Newberry on Monday. Tusculum also defeated Catawba 72-64 in overtime on Saturday, and dropped a heartbreaking 76-75 decision at Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday.

Anderson (17-2) remains atop the region rankings following a pair of wins which extended their winning streak to 15 games. Wingate (14-4) moved into second place after beating Carson-Newman 76-75 on Saturday, with North Georgia (14-3) slipping to third following an overtime loss to Flagler.

Lander (13-5) is fourth after winning against Clayton State and USC Aiken, while Carson-Newman (14-5) fell to fifth after the loss to Wingate in their only action of the week. Trailing Tusculum in the rankings are Barton (16-4) and three new entrants in the rankings in Belmont Abbey (13-6) in eighth, Lincoln Memorial (12-6) in ninth and Flagler (12-5) in tenth.

Tusculum will host Anderson on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Pioneer Arena, then travel to Newberry for a 2 p.m. tipoff on Saturday.
