DURANGO, Colo. --- The Tusculum women's basketball team moved up two positions to sixth in the latest D2SIDA Southeast Region Media Poll, through games of Dec. 3.
The Pioneers (7-1) opened their South Atlantic Conference schedule last week with wins over defending conference champions Lincoln Memorial (76-72) and Queens (66-57) to continue the program's best start since the 2008-09 season.
Tusculum is one of five SAC schools in this week's rankings, which are led by Carson-Newman (9-0) and followed by Wingate (6-1), Lander (5-2), Limestone (5-1) and North Georgia (5-1) in the top five. Following Tusculum in the top 10 is a three-way tie for seventh between Anderson (6-2), Columbus State (3-2) and Lincoln Memorial (4-3), with Francis Marion rounding out the top 10 at 3-3.
The Pioneers will return to action Saturday at 2 p.m. for their first conference road game of the season at Catawba.
