Pioneers run at rain-shortened Tennessee Challenge

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's and women's track & field teams competed at the rain-shortened Tennessee Challenge Saturday afternoon at Tom Black Track.

Competition was halted for the day due to heavy rain and lightning after five of 22 track events and seven of 16 track events were completed.

Senior Nicole McMillen was second in the women's 1500 meters with a time of 4:37.74, nearly a half-second faster than her school record of 4:38.21 set at the Gamecock Invitational on April 13. Former Milligan All-American Hannah Segrave competed for the New Balance club team and won the race in a time of 4:21.73.

Freshman Alejandro Perez ran 10:22.85 in the men's steeplechase for the Pioneers, while the men's 4x100-meter relay team of Gibran Williams, Widchard Guervil, Xavier Billups and Kedar Ashford did not finish.

The Pioneers are scheduled to compete at the Dr. Keeler Invitational at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois and the Lenoir-Rhyne Final Qualifier in the upcoming week prior to the NCAA Division II Championship.
