Guervil takes third in 60 to lead Tusculum contingent at Buccaneer Invitational

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. --- Members of the Tusculum University men's and women's indoor track & field teams finished competition Saturday at the ETSU Buccaneer Invitational inside the Athletics Center.

Tusculum will send athletes to Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 12 and 13 for the Queens Combined Events.

MEN
Sophomore All-American Widchard Guervil finished third overall in the 60 meters with a time of 6.86 seconds in the finals. Guervil was ninth in preliminaries and second in semifinals, then finished behind SAC rivals P.J. Lotharp of Lenoir-Rhyne (6.81) and Devon Moore of Carson-Newman (6.85) in the finals.

Kyler Hodges finished eighth in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:06.02, and J'Quen Johnson broke his own school record in the 800 meters with a 17th-place finish of 2:00.45. Johnson surpassed his previous mark set last season by just over a half-second.

In field events, Jamire Thompson was 16th in the triple jump with a mark of 11.82 meters (38 feet, 9 1/2 inches), and Christian Sisto led the Pioneers in the shot put with a distance of 13.28 meters (43 feet, 7 inches) which was 21st overall.

WOMEN
Tusculum had results in just three events on Saturday, led by Alyssa Farmer who had a mark of 11.31 meters (37 feet, 1 1/4 inches) in the shot put and finished in 18th place. Brooklyn Smith competed in the 3000 meters and was 27th in a time of 12:37.53, and Karla Angulo cut three seconds off her time in the 800 meters by crossing the line in 2:35.41, good for 25th overall.
