Guervil finishes eighth in 100 meters at NCAA Championship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- Tusculum concluded competition Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Division II Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Johnson C. Smith University at the Irwin Belk Complex.

Freshman Widchard Guervil earned All-America honors for the second time this season after finishing eighth in the 100 meters, while junior Yannick Rosalie competed in the men's triple jump.

Tusculum finished with one point to tie for 68th place in the final team standings out of the 112 teams that had at least one entry in the championship meet.

Guervil ran 10.61 seconds in Saturday's finals, after advancing with a time of 10.45 seconds in preliminaries on Thursday. He was also an All-American during the indoor track and field season after placing fourth in the 60 meters at the NCAA Division II Men's Indoor Championships.

Rosalie finished 23rd in the triple jump with a best mark of 13.89 meters (45 feet, 7 inches) coming in his first of three attempts. Rosalie, who finished third in the triple jump in both the South Atlantic Conference Indoor and Outdoor Championships, was the final qualifier for the field after posting a season-best jump of 15.15 meters (49 feet, 8 1/2 inches) at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier on May 2.
