Guervil, 4x100 relay improve times at Tennessee Challenge

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --- Several members of the Tusculum track & field team participated in the Tennessee Challenge at Tom Black Track Saturday afternoon.

The Pioneer men's 4x100-meter relay team of Jacob Acklin, Xavier Billups, Kedar Ashford and Widchard Guervil improved upon its NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time by finishing with a time of 40.67 seconds. The relay team improved two-tenths of a second on its time of 40.87 seconds set Wednesday at Liberty, and moved from 13th to seventh place on the Division II performance list.

Guervil vaulted up the Division II performance list in the men's 200 meters after finishing first in a field of 18 runners with a time of 20.97 seconds. The freshman trimmed three-tenths of a second off his time of 21.27 seconds from Liberty and moved all the way up from a tie for 32nd to a tie for 10th on the national performance list. Guervil remains fourth in the nation in the 100 meters with a time of 10.30 seconds set at the South Atlantic Conference Championship on April 19.

Yannick Rosalie finished fourth in the men's triple jump with a wind-aided mark of 14.89 meters (48 feet, 10 1/4 inches) but did not improve upon his national-qualifying distance of 15.15 meters (49 feet, 8 1/2 inches) set at Liberty. Rosalie is currently tied for 17th on the Division II performance list.

Also competing for Tusculum was I'Keriah Day, who finished ninth in the women's long jump with a mark of 4.66 meters (15 feet, 3 1/2 inches).
