Men's 4x100, Rosalie provisionally qualify for NCAAs at Liberty Twilight Qualifier

LYNCHBURG, Va. --- Tusculum's men's 4x100-meter relay team and men's triple jumper Yannick Rosalie each recorded NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier, held Wednesday at the Matthes-Hopkins Outdoor Track.

The relay team of Jacob Acklin, Xavier Billups, Kedar Ashford and Widchard Guervil earned an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time of 40.87 seconds. The time is the fastest by a South Atlantic Conference school this season and pushes Tusculum into 13th on the performance list.

Rosalie leaped 15.15 meters (49 feet, 8 1/2 inches) on his second of six jumps to take second place in the event and surpass the NCAA Division II provisional distance of 14.63 meters. His jump puts Rosalie in a tie for 17th on the NCAA performance list and is the second-best mark by a SAC jumper this season.

Rosalie, who finished third in the triple jump in both the SAC Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, easily surpassed his previous outdoor season best of 14.36 meters (47 feet, 1 1/2 inches) set at the North Carolina A&T Aggie Invitational on April 14.

One day after being named Tusculum's Male Athlete of the Year, Guervil ran 21.27 seconds in the men's 200 meters, which was a season best and moved him into a tie for 31st on the NCAA Division II performance list. Guervil won his heat and finished second overall in the field of 32 runners behind Alejandro Zapata of Liberty, who was clocked at 20.85 seconds.

In the women's long jump, I'Keriah Day posted her best mark on the third of six jumps with a distance of 5.24 meters (17 feet, 2 1/4 inches), finishing seventh overall in the field of 16 competitors.
