ROCK HILL, S.C. --- The Tusculum men's outdoor track & field team has been picked to finish seventh at the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Championship announced league officials Friday. The Pioneers received 55 total points in a vote of the conference's 11 head coaches.
Tusculum is coming off a sixth-place showing at last month's inaugural SAC Indoor Championship.
Queens is the favorite as the Royals earned 10 of the 11 first place votes and received 116 points. Wingate is second with one first place nod and 101 points. Lenoir-Rhyne is third with 92 points, followed by Carson-Newman (89), Coker (68), Anderson (63), Tusculum (55), Lincoln Memorial (47), Mars Hill (41), Catawba (30) and Newberry (20).
The Pioneers also had three student-athletes named to the SAC Outdoor Track & Field Watch List. Representing TC on the Watch List are Indoor All-American sprinter Widchard Guervil, distance runner Will Cronin and field honoree Jay Boyd.
Tusculum opens the outdoor portion of its schedule this weekend at the Charlotte 49er Classic in North Carolina. The 2018 SAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship will be conducted April 19-20 at the Irwin Belk Complex in Charlotte.
