Tusculum picked ninth in SAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Poll

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- The Tusculum women's outdoor track & field team has been picked to finish ninth at the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Championship announced league officials Friday. The Pioneers garnered 36 total points in a vote of the conference's head coaches.

Tusculum is coming off a ninth place showing at last month's inaugural SAC Indoor Track & Field Championship in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Queens is the favorite to win the SAC Championship as the Royals picked up nine first place votes and received 116 points.  Wingate is picked second with two first place votes and 102 points. Lenoir-Rhyne is third with 90 points, followed by Coker (80), Anderson (77), Carson-Newman (75), Lincoln Memorial (52), Mars Hill (46), Tusculum (36), Catawba (30) and Newberry (18).

The Pioneers also had three student-athletes named to the SAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Watch List including sprinter Jayla Lewis, distance runner Nicole McMillen and field honoree I'Keriah Day.

Tusculum opens its outdoor season this weekend at the Charlotte 49er Classic in Charlotte, North Carolina.  The 2018 SAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held April 19-20 at the Irwin Belk Complex in Charlotte.
