Guervil qualifies for 60 meter finals at NCAA Championships

PITTSBURG, Kan. --- Tusculum freshman sprinter Widchard Guervil has qualified for Saturday's finals in the men's 60 meters at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, after winning his heat in preliminaries on Friday.

Guervil ran a season-best time of 6.67 seconds to place first in his heat and automatically earn a berth in Saturday's finals. The top finisher in each of the three heats qualified for the finals, along with the next fastest five runners in the field of 17 competitors.

By qualifying for Saturday's finals, Guervil has assured himself of becoming Tusculum's first All-American in track & field in the inaugural season of the sport. The finals will be held at 6:20 p.m. Eastern on Saturday from the Robert W. Plaster Center on the campus of Pittsburg State University.
