Tusculum to compete in inaugural SAC Indoor Track & Field Championships

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum men's and women's track and field teams will compete in the inaugural South Atlantic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship on Monday, Feb. 19 at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

All 11 SAC members will be represented in the meet, which will feature 16 men's and 16 women's events. The meet will start at 10:00 Monday morning with the distance medley relay and field events.

MEN
Widchard Guervil is seeded third in the 60 meters, having set a season-best time of 6.81 seconds at the ETSU Buccaneer Invitational on Feb. 2. Guervil is tied for 14th on the NCAA Division II performance list and is one of 39 runners who have met the provisional qualifying time of 6.88 seconds. Guervil is also entered in the 200 meters, holding the seventh-fastest time in the conference of 22.51 seconds set on Jan. 26 at the Liberty Kickoff.

Also entered in the 60 meters are Dezmond Chambers (7.12) and Jacob Acklin (7.19), while joining Guervil in the 200 meters are Kedar Ashford (22.84) and Althiery Leontes (22.90).

Competing in the 400 meters for the Pioneers are Khalil Green, Xavier Hayes and Rodnell Cruell. Green had the best time of the season for the Pioneers, running 52.16 seconds at the ETSU Buccaneer Invitational. Hayes has a seed time of 54.58 seconds and Cruell was clocked at 55.72 seconds during the season.

In the 800 meters, J'Quen Johnson is seeded 11th with a time of 2:00.98 set at the Dunamis Super Meet on Feb. 8. Malik Tann (2:04.46) and Isaac Hybarger (2:12.73) are also entered in the event for the Pioneers. Tusculum will have two distance entries, as Will Cronin is seeded 11th in the 5000 with a mark of 16:06.33 that he recorded at the Dunamis Super Meet. Jackson Beeson (16:16.38) will also run in the event.

Tusculum's 4x400 relay team is ranked sixth in the event, after timing at 3:29.60 at the ETSU Invitational on Jan. 12. The distance medley relay team is seeded eighth with a time of 11:34.24 set Jan. 20 at the Wake Forest Invitational.

In field events, Jay Boyd is ranked fourth in the high jump at 1.89 meters (6-2 1/4) which he recorded at the Liberty Kickoff. Boyd is also seeded fifth in the long jump at 6.85 meters (22-5 3/4), a mark he recorded at the ETSU Buccaneer Invitational. Ashford (5.89 meters, 19-4) and Yannick Rosalie (4.85 meters, 14-11) will also compete in the long jump, while Rosalie is seeded third in the triple jump at 14.03 meters (46-1/4) which he delivered at the ETSU Invitational, one of four jumps of more than 45 feet for Rosalie this season.

Entered in the shot put for the Pioneers are Christian Sisto, who is in the final flight with a mark of 12.88 meters (42-3 1/4) set at the Dunamis Super Meet. Travis Johnson (12.55 meters, 41-2 1/4) and Zach Lane (11.45 meters, 37-6 3/4) will also compete in the shot put, while Evan Grooms (10.67 meters, 35-1/4) will be in the weight throw.

WOMEN
Junior Nicole McMillen is seeded sixth in the 5000 meters, with a fast time of 18:55.77 set at Dunamis Super Meet on Feb. 8. She is also seeded eighth in the mile run after qualifying with a time of 5:27.71 at the ETSU Buccaneer Invitational on Feb. 2.

The Pioneers have three entries in the 60 meters, including Jayla Lewis who ran a team-best time of 8.09 seconds at the Dunamis Super Meet. Also entered are Briana McDonald (8.14) and Autumn Blackwood (8.43). In the 200 meters, I'Keriah Day is the Pioneers' top entrant with a seed time of 26.59 seconds set at the ETSU Buccaneer Invitational. Lewis (26.94) and McDonald (27.34) will also compete for the Pioneers in the event.

Representing Tusculum in the 400 meters will be Bailey Pruiett, who had the team's top three times in the event including a best of 1:02.36 at the Dunamis Super Meet. Raygene Minus (1:03.08) and Drew Wildman (1:09.63) are also entered for the Pioneers. Katie MacDonald is Tusculum's lone competitor in the 800 meters, which saw her run a season-best of 2:32.63 at the ETSU Buccaneer Invitational.

Alissa Furches will run the mile for the Pioneers along with McMillen, after running 5:44.13 at the Liberty Kickoff of Jan. 26. Furches is also entered in the 3000 meters with a time of 11:21.69 that she ran at the ETSU Buccaneer Invitational.

The Pioneers will also compete in both the 4x400 and distance medley relays. Tusculum ran 4:16.49 in the 4x400 at the ETSU Buccaneer Invitational and is seeded sixth in the event, while the distance medley relay team is seeded fifth with a time of 13:42.65 at the Dunamis Super Meet.

In field events, Day will compete in the top flight in the long jump after posting a mark of 5.10 meters (16-8 3/4) at the Wake Forest Invitational on Jan. 20. Gracee Peters is entered in both the high jump and triple jump, with her triple jump mark of 9.60 meters (31-6) set at the ETSU Invitational on Jan. 12.

Dynah Dunn is entered in both the shot put and weight throw for the Pioneers, with her mark of 11.34 meters in the shot put (37-2 1/2) from the Dunamis Super Meet ranking sixth in the field. Dunn threw 10.07 meters in the weight throw (33-1/2) which came in the ETSU Invitational.
