Pioneers earn 17 top-10 finishes at Dunamis Super Meet

ATLANTA, Ga. --- The Tusculum men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed at the Dunamis Super Meet Thursday at the Lakepoint Champions Center. Tusculum had 17 top-10 finishes during the meet, including a sweep of the 5000 meters from Will Cronin in the men's race and Nicole McMillen in the women's event.

The Pioneers will return to competition when they make their inaugural appearance in the South Atlantic Conference championship meet on Monday, Feb. 19 at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

MEN
Cronin ran 16:06.33 in the 5000 meters to set a season best and win the event, while moving to just outside the top 10 on the SAC performance list. Cronin also finished sixth in the mile run with a time of 4:54.67, trailing teammate Jackson Beason who ran a season-best 4:43.67 and finished fifth overall. Beason had a third-place finish in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:22.92.

J'Quen Johnson set a team season best in the 800 meters, breaking his own season best by 4 1/2 seconds, by finishing seventh with a time of 2:00.98. Malik Tann just missed a season best and finished 11th overall in 2:04.58 for the Pioneers. Khalil Green finished 12th in the 400 meters in 52.21 seconds, and Althiery Leontes turned in a time of 22.90 seconds in the 200 meters for a 13th-place finish. In the 60 meters, Jacob Acklin was Tusculum's top finisher in 7.19 seconds for 16th overall.

In field events, Jay Boyd finished tied for third in the high jump at 1.85 meters (6 feet, 3/4 inch), and was fifth in the long jump at 6.72 meters (22 feet, 3/4 inch). Yannick Rosalie took fourth in the triple jump with a best leap of 13.86 meters (45 feet, 5 3/4 inches) and Christian Sisto recorded Tusculum's best mark of the year in the shot put at 12.88 meters (42 feet, 3 1/4 inches), placing him eighth overall in the event and moving him into 10th place on the SAC performance list.

WOMEN
Tusculum turned in a 1-2 finish in the 5000 meters as McMillen ran a season-best time of 18:55.77 followed by Alissa Furches in 19:57.61. McMillen's time was 23 seconds faster than her previous season best and put her into 10th place on the SAC performance list in the event. McMillen also ran the anchor leg of Tusculum's distance medley relay team that won with a time of 13:42.65 and moved into fifth place on the conference performance list.

In the 800 meters, Katie MacDonald finished sixth overall in 2:35.19, while Bailey Pruiett was eighth overall in the 400 and recorded a season-best time of 1:02.36. Raygene Minus just missed her season best in the 400 and took 13th place with a time of 1:03.42. In the 200 meters, I'Keriah Day finished 10th with a time of 26.79 seconds, while Jayla Lewis had a team season-best time of 8.09 seconds in the 60 meters and finished in 20th place. Briana McDonald also had a season best in the 60 meters with a time of 8.14 seconds.

In the field, Dynah Dunn was eighth in the shot put with a season-best throw of 11.34 meters (37 feet, 2 1/2 inches) which puts her in sixth place on the SAC performance list.
