LYNCHBURG, Va. --- The Tusculum men's and women's indoor track and field teams continued their schedule on Friday and Saturday by competing at the Liberty Kickoff, held at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex.
The Pioneers will compete next weekend at the Buccaneer Track and Field Invitational, to be held at the ETSU/MSHA Center in Johnson City.
MEN
Widchard Guervil finished eighth in the 60 meters with a time of 6.89 seconds, his third-best mark of the season in the event. Guervil also had a season-best time of 22.51 seconds in the 200 meters, with Dezmond Chambers also turning in a season best of 23.90 in the 200.
In the 5000 meters, Will Cronin finished in 13th place with a time of 16.10.87, followed in 14th place by Jackson Beason with a time of 16:16.38. Cronin also finished 28th overall in the 3000 meters as he was clocked in 9:26.59.
In field events, Yannick Rosalie just missed his best mark of the season but still had a ninth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 14.01 meters (45 feet, 11 3/4 inches). Jay Boyd was 15th in the high jump at 1.89 meters (6 feet, 2 1/4 inches), and Kedar Ashford had a season best for the Pioneers in the long jump at 5.89 meters (19 feet, 4 inches).
Tusculum also recorded a pair of season bests in the shot put, with Travis Johnson throwing 12.55 meters (41 feet, 2 1/4 inches) and Zach Lane recording a mark of 11.45 meters (37 feet, 6 3/4 inches).
WOMEN
Nicole McMillen finished 11th in the 5000 meters in 19:18.60, and turned in a season-best time of 11:08.60 in the 3000 meters to lead the Pioneers. Briana McDonald ran the Pioneers' fastest 200 meters of the season in 27.51 seconds, and Bailey Pruiett set a season best in the 400 meters of 1:02.70.
In the 800 meters, Katie McDonald set a team best time for the season of 2:35.11, while Deondra Thomas established her personal season best of 2:47.07. Alissa Furches set yet another team best mark for the season as she crossed the line in 5:44.13 in the mile run.
In the field, I'Keriah Day posted a best mark of 4.76 meters (15 feet, 7 1/2 inches) in the long jump and Dynah Dunn threw 10.51 meters (34 feet, 5 3/4 inches) in the shot put.
