Leslie Hensley is entering her fourth season as the assistant coach with the Tusculum softball program in the fall of 2018. Hensley assists in all aspects of the program while also serving as the Pioneers’ pitching coach.
 
Hensley served for two seasons as an assistant coach on the Francis Marion University softball staff. Her duties included arrangement of team travel itinerary, community service, team promotions, camps, and recruiting, as well as working with the infielders.
 
The Patriots were 48-50 during Hensley’s tenure at the Florence, South Carolina school. FMU qualified for the Peach Belt Conference tournament in both campaigns and five players earned all conference recognition. Hensley mentored three-time All-PBC selection Taylor Luff, who threw four no-hitters during her senior season. She also served as Patriots’ head cheerleading coach.
 
Prior to joining the Francis Marion coaching staff, the Cheraw, South Carolina native spent the 2013 season as an assistant coach at Southern Wesleyan University where she worked primarily with pitchers and catchers.
 
Prior to coaching, Hensley was a four-year letter-winner on the Presbyterian College softball team where she pitched and played first base. Her NCAA Division I pitching career saw Hensley accumulate 204 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.54.
 
She brings a wealth of experience from the mound having pitched 646.3 innings, while gathering 49 collegiate wins.  Hensley was a three-time recipient of the Big South Conference Player of the Week award, and was a first-team All-Conference selection in 2011 as well as an All-Academic selection.
 
A 2008 graduate of Cheraw High School, she was a four-time All-State prep performer.  Hensley earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with minors in Physical Education, Athletic Coaching and Biology at Presbyterian College. She earned her Masters of Arts degree in human resource development from Tusculum in December 2016.
