Alloway named to CoSIDA Academic All-America softball team

AUSTIN, Texas --- Tusculum University outfielder Anna Alloway has been named to the 2020 NCAA Division II Academic All-America® Softball third team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Alloway becomes the second player in program history to garner Academic All-America® distinction joining former teammate Morgan Mahaffey who earn second team recognition last season.

Alloway, a junior from Louisville, Tennessee, boasts a 3.99 cumulative grade point average while majoring in elementary education and middle school English. Throughout her Pioneer career, she has been named to the Division II Athletic Directors Association Honor Roll, South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, Athletic Director's Honor Roll, President's List, Dean's List, and Charles Oliver Gray Honors List.

Playing in all 22 games in the outfield, Alloway was named as the SAC Player of the Week to open the season, marking the first position player to claim the honor since 2013. The right-hander led the team in runs, hits, total bases, and home runs. She was among the top-four on the roster in at bats, plate appearance, doubles, runs batted in, walks, hit by pitches, and extra base hits, striking out just twice.

Alloway finished the season batting .417, while posting a .764 slugging percentage, and an on-base percentage of .494, while recording at least one hit in 17 of her 22 games. Her seven home runs were good for 19th in Division II and her 55 total bases ranked 27th.

In the COVID-19 halted season, Tusculum ended the year with a 15-7 overall record.
