Alloway earns Academic All-District honors

AUSTIN, Texas --- Tusculum softball's Anna Alloway has been named to the 2020 NCAA Division II Academic All-District III Softball first team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Alloway advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot, which will be announced next month. The Academic All-District III team is selected from nominees representing all colleges and universities in the South Atlantic Conference, Conference Carolinas, and Peach Belt Conference.

The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.

Alloway, a junior utility player from Louisville, Tennessee, boasts a 3.99 cumulative grade point average while majoring in elementary education and middle school English. Throughout her Pioneer career, she has been named to the Division II Athletic Directors Association (D2ADA) Honor Roll, SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, Athletic Director's Honor Roll, Dean's List, and Charles Oliver Gray Honors List.

Playing in all 22 games in the outfield, Alloway was named as the SAC Player of the Week to open the season, marking the first position player to claim the honor since 2013. The right-hander led the team in runs, hits, total bases, and home runs. She was among the top-four on the roster in at bats, plate appearance, doubles, runs batted in, walks, hit by pitches, and extra base hits, striking out just twice.

Alloway finished the season batting .417, slugging .764, and an on-base percentage of .494, while recording at least one hit in 17-of-22 games. Her seven homers were good for 19th in Division II and her 55 total bases ranked 27th. In only three seasons at Tusculum, she already has made her mark in the record book with five mentions in statistical categories.

In the COVID-19 halted season, Tusculum ended with a 15-7 overall record, after the program's best start (13-2).
