TUSCULUM SOFTBALL SPLITS PAIR AT ERSKINE


INDIANAPOLIS --- The Tusculum College Women's basketball team climbed one spot and is listed sixth in this week's NCAA Division II South Atlantic Region rankings. The Pioneers (21-3, 11-1 in South Atlantic Conference) have won their last six contests and 18 of their last 19 entering Wednesday's league tilt with Newberry College.

At the end of the season, the top eight teams in the region receive a berth to the NCAA II Tournament. The three conferences that comprise the South Atlantic Region (South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt Conference, Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association) each receive an automatic berth into the NCAA II Tournament, with five at-large berths being awarded.

Francis Marion University holds the top spot in the region, moving up one spot from last week. Columbus State University is second, while Clayton State University holds onto the No. 3 spot. Augusta State University jumps two spots to fourth, while North Georgia College & State University remains fifth. Tusculum is sixth, followed by Wingate University, who drops three spots to No. 7, followed by Shaw University, Johnson C. Smith University and USC Aiken.

Following the Newberry game, Tusculum will be at home on Saturday when the Pioneers host Brevard College in a non-conference tilt beginning at 6 p.m.
