Men's Volleyball Remains in Tennessee to Face King

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's volleyball team is set to rematch with nearby King on Friday night in Bristol. The Pioneers hosted the Tornado in their first-ever match at the beginning of January.

The Black and Orange brought in IVA-foe Queens on Saturday, falling to the Royals in straight sets.

In the lone match, Matteo Miselli knocked down 10 kills, followed by four from both Shaun Kampshoff and Mackenzie Scott. Arthur Amorim and Tom Kait contributed three kills apiece. Lucas Blanco assisted on 26 of the team's 27 kills. Miselli also led the Pioneers with a pair of service aces, with Blanco and Kampshoff rounding out the category.

As the libero, Peter Stewart finished with a team-high seven digs, ahead of four from Miselli. The freshman is credited with three total blocks (one solo, two assists). Amorim, Kampshoff, and Shaphar Grant each recorded a pair of block assists.

In the national rankings, Tusculum is 14th in opponent hitting percentage with .228. The Pioneers are also 19th with 1.36 aces per set. Individually, Miselli is among the top-15 in four categories: aces per set (5th; .568), points per set (9th; 4.67), attacks per set (9th; 8.91), and kills per set (14th; 3.84). Blanco is 29th with an assists per set average of 7.96.

LOOKING AHEAD
King (7-9) will host Charleston (W.Va.) the day before the Pioneers invade Bristol. The Tornado are led by 140 kills by Sean Kohlhase and 102 from Joshua Kim. Averaging 8.14 per set, Jack Sarnowski has collected 301 assists, followed by 163 from JT Deppe. Sarnowski also heads up the ace category with 16, while Kohlhase has a team-high 65 digs. Julian Young is the major defensive threat, compiling 50 total blocks (six solo, 44 assists).
