Pioneers Succumb to Indiana Tech

FORT WAYNE, Ind. --- The Tusculum men's volleyball team lost to fellow first-year program Indiana Tech in three sets on Friday night.

The Warriors (7-11) won by scores of 25-20, 25-15, 25-19 to win over the Pioneers (3-11).

Indiana Tech was powered by nine kills from both Mason Milan and Cameron Ternent, followed by eight from Daynte Stewart. Chandler Davis handed out 25 assists, while Ternent collected a pair of service aces. Ternent finished with nine digs, one ahead of Joey Hermes. Chase Christiansen (four solo, one assist) and Dante Siracusa (three solo, two assists) were dominant at the net for the Warriors with five total blocks each.

Four Pioneers are credited with four kills apiece: Mackenzie Scott, Hunter Walck, Shaun Kampshoff, and Shaphar Grant, who went 4-for-4 on swings. Arthur Amorim (2), Matteo Miselli (2), and Ivan Sosa (1) rounded out the column. Lucas Blanco dished up 15 assists and tied Peter Stewart with six digs. Jaret Knight was just behind with five digs. Grant connected on the lone solo block, while Amorim and Miselli teamed up for the remaining defense.

Indiana Tech ended the match with a .177 hitting percentage with 32 kills and 18 attack errors in 79 total attempts. Tusculum totaled 21 kills, 20 errors, and 78 swings for a .013 hitting percentage. The Warriors led the Pioneers in assists (31-19), aces (5-0), digs (32-27), and total blocks (9-2).

Tusculum will play a tri-match in Urbana, Ohio on Saturday to wrap up the month-long road trip. First serve against nationally-ranked Saint Xavier of the NAIA is set for 1 p.m. with the match against IVA-foe Urbana to follow.
