Pioneers leap to 37th in ITA Division II rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. --- The Tusculum University men's tennis team jumped 13 positions to 37th in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II national team rankings.

The Pioneers completed a perfect 4-0 week last week, earning wins of 7-0 over West Virginia State and 6-1 over Quincy in spring break action at Hilton Head, South Carolina, then picking up victories of 4-3 over Coker on Saturday and 6-1 over Anderson on Sunday in South Atlantic Conference action.

The doubles team of senior Nemanja Subanovic and freshman Anton Krondell is ranked 37th this week with an 8-4 overall record, including 3-1 in SAC competition. The duo has played all of its matches at flight one, and has victories in six of its last seven contests.

Also ranked with Tusculum this week from the SAC are Lenoir-Rhyne (31st), Wingate (32nd), Lincoln Memorial (42nd) and Carson-Newman (48th). Non-conference ranked opponents include new #1 Saint Leo, along with North Georgia (19th) and Charleston (23rd).

The Pioneers (11-3) have moved their scheduled match against Limestone from Saturday, March 23 to Sunday, March 24 due to weather. First serve will be at 1 p.m. from the Nichols Tennis Complex.
