Pioneers ranked 50th by ITA this week

TEMPE, Ariz. --- The Tusculum University men's tennis team is 50th in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II national team rankings, the ITA announced Wednesday.

The Pioneers (7-3) dropped four positions from last week after beating Shepherd 7-0 in their only match of the week. Tusculum added a 7-0 win over West Virginia State on Tuesday in a match that will factor into next week's rankings.

Five South Atlantic Conference teams, including Tusculum, are in the rankings this week, led by Lenoir-Rhyne in 32nd and joined by Lincoln Memorial (44th), Carson-Newman (45th) and Wingate (47th). Four non-conference opponents of the Pioneers are also ranked this week, with Saint Leo in 3rd, North Georgia 15th, Charleston 22nd and Georgia College 49th.

The Pioneers close their trip to Hilton Head on Thursday at 9 a.m. against Quincy.
