Pioneers drop 6-1 decision at Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. --- The University of Charleston defeated Tusculum University 6-1 in non-conference men's tennis action Saturday evening.

The Golden Eagles (4-0) swept doubles play from the Pioneers (3-3), then won five of the six singles matches to earn the win.

Tusculum's lone point came at flight four, where Rens Verhaar rallied from a set down for a tiebreaker victory over Vicente Garcia by a 3-6, 7-5, (10-5) score.

The Pioneers play their South Atlantic Conference opener on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at Newberry, beginning at 2 p.m.
