Pioneers fall at home to North Georgia

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University dropped a 6-1 decision to the University of North Georgia in non-conference men's tennis action Wednesday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.

The Nighthawks (4-0) won the doubles point on a tiebreaker, then won the first five singles matches against the Pioneers (3-2).

In doubles, the team of Nemanja Subanovic and Anton Krondell defeated Joaquin Benoit and Robin Eldin 6-2 at flight one, but the Nighthawks picked up a victory at flight three and then won 7-3 in the tiebreak at flight two to earn the team point.

In singles, Krondell fell in three sets to Giulio Sassi 6-2, 5-7, 6-1 at flight two, while Ivan Ivars was beaten in a tiebreaker at flight five by a 6-4, 1-6 (10-6) score against Marcos Castellanos. Tusculum secured its only point in the final match of the day, as Sarthak Sharma claimed a 6-2, 3-6 (12-10) victory at flight six against Eliseo Alcalde.

The Pioneers will be on the road Saturday to face the University of Charleston at 5:30 p.m. The Golden Eagles improved to 3-0 with a 4-1 win over Carson-Newman last Saturday.
