Akinpetide ranked 19th in latest ITA Southeast Region singles survey

TEMPE, Ariz. --- Tusculum University junior David Akinpetide is listed 19th in the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II Southeast Region Men's Singles Rankings, the ITA announced on Wednesday.

Akinpetide, who was ranked 15th in the region in singles following fall competition, won his final two matches of the spring to finish with a 5-5 record in dual matches during the 2019-20 season. Four of Akinpetide's 10 matches went to three sets, including contests against nationally-ranked opponents Edison Ambarzumjan of Newberry and Ignacio Bidegain of Anderson.

Overall, the Chelles, France native was 10-8 for the Pioneers in 2019-20, increasing his career singles record to 21-23 in three seasons at Tusculum.

The Pioneers finished with a 7-4 overall record and a 1-2 mark in the South Atlantic Conference during the abbreviated 2019-20 season.
