ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University's David Akinpetide has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Tennis Player of the Week.
Akinpetide, a sophomore from Chelles, France, upset fifth-ranked Renato Lima of the University of Indianapolis (No. 10 team in NCAA II) last week at No. 1 singles. Akinpetide opened the match with a 6-2 victory, and then lost 6-0 in the second set, but stormed his way back to win the third set 7-6, via an 8-6 tiebreaker. The win improved his record to 2-0 on the season in singles play.
Tusculum returns to action this weekend with matches at North Georgia (Sat.) and Young Harris (Sun.).
