GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- In a matchup of nationally-ranked teams, Queens held off a late rally from Tusculum for a 5-4 victory in South Atlantic Conference men's tennis action Sunday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.

The 16th-ranked Royals (7-3, 6-1 SAC) led 2-1 after doubles and 4-2 midway through singles, but the 31st-ranked Pioneers (13-5, 4-3 SAC) came back to tie the match at 4-4. However, Queens' Sebastian Meum won in three sets (6-4, 6-7, 6-4) over Tashique Kader to clinch the victory for the Royals.

In doubles, the Pioneers earned their lone point at flight two, where Toby de Klerk and Yago Fernandez defeated Andor Vas and Kasper Rolfsen by a score of 8-2.

Tusculum trailed 4-2 in singles after Tomas Kmetko earned a 7-5, 7-5 win over Julian Bosch at flight two. The Pioneer comeback began as Jorge Cervantes defeated Rolfsen 6-2, 6-4 at flight five and Gabriel Yaguar won 6-4, 6-4 over Joel Dunlap at flight six, but Meum rallied after dropping a second-set tiebreaker to give Queens the victory.

The Pioneers will be back in action Monday with a SAC match at 14th-ranked Wingate beginning at 11 a.m.
