Tusculum claims 5-2 road win over Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. --- Tusculum earned a 5-2 victory on the road against Emmanuel in a non-conference men's tennis match Wednesday afternoon.

The Pioneers (2-0) held the lead through doubles against the Lions (0-1) and won three of the four completed singles matches to remain perfect in the fall.

Tusculum jumped to a 2-1 lead in doubles as Tomas Kmetko and Yago Fernandez won 8-6 over Enrique Alcacer and Juan Carlos Romero at flight one, while Eduardo Muñoz and Toby de Klerk beat Tom Jarry and Mason White 8-1 at flight three.

In singles action, Munoz defeated Jorge Canadas 6-1, 6-4 at flight three, while Jorge Cervantes claimed a 6-3, 6-1 victory at flight five againt Alcacer. The Pioneers earned the winning point at flight six, where de Klerk shut out White 6-0, 6-0.

The final two singles matches were halted after the Pioneers clinched, with Fernandez up a set against Romero at flight two and Tashique Kader leading Lucas Pereira 6-5 in the first set at flight four.

The Pioneers will host King Monday at 2 p.m. at the Nichols Tennis Complex in their lone home match of the fall season.
