Tusculum clinches SAC postseason berth with 8-1 win over Coker

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum men's tennis team clinched a berth in next week's South Atlantic Conference Championship with an 8-1 win over Coker at the Nichols Tennis Complex Wednesday afternoon.

The Pioneers (12-10, 6-5 SAC) swept all six singles matches from the Cobras (8-12, 2-9 SAC) to earn the sixth and final seed in the conference tournament, which will be held April 20-22 at Rock Hill, South Carolina.

In doubles, David Siegle and Leon Seiz were an 8-2 winner over Felix Schweyer and Simon Bergbom at flight one, and Tashique Kader teamed with Yago Fernandez for an 8-6 victory at flight two over Hunter Horton and Henrik Hellbe.

In singles, Tomas Kmetko won 6-4, 6-0 at flight one against Mark Watt, Fernandez beat Schweyer 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 at flight two, and Kader downed Horton 6-4, 4-6, (10-5) at flight three. At flight four, Siegle was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Hellbe, Eduardo Munoz beat Bergbom 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 at flight five, and Seiz won 6-3, 6-2 at flight six over Dominic Allen.

Tusculum is scheduled to conclude its regular season next Tuesday at 2 p.m. on the road in a non-conference match with Emmanuel.
